Arche is the culmination of the past couple of years of ideas, iterations, and tools we’ve built for radical, open, decentralized science.
The name Arche is inspired by the presocratic notion of the arche that Pythagoras, Democritus, Thales of Miletus, and many others pursued as a fundamental substrate of the universe. This universalism motivated these early philosophers to think deeply about the essence of our world, proposing ideas like Numbers, Atoms, Fire, and Water as the quintessence of all things.
We created Arche to be a basic substrate for open science. Labs, researchers, and curious minds can create their own lab, explore an ecosystem of fascinating research, track live experiments, and engage at the frontier. Science has long existed in the silos of institutions or in the garages of radical thinkers; our goal is to provide a simple, general-purpose framework through which such research can be illuminated, contributed to, and initiated openly.
